Today my little guy turns 6...oh. my. god. He starts kindergarten in a few weeks. I can barely believe it. I'm feeling nostalgic, so here's a few highlights from The Dude's very fist birthday party which was a picnic theme....forgive the terrible photography, I needed a lot of work!

Of course I designed the invitations which were mailed in red paper lunch bags with wrap around labels.

My husband made a "Party Bagel" (which is exactly like what it sounds...a giant bagel sandwich and they are awesome) in the shape of the number 1 and we had all the important salads that belong at a picnnic: fruit, potato and pasta! I made the cake...clearly needed to work on my skills...the ants melted as I put them on so they look like a trail of gross but it tasted good! And I think everyone was so distracted by how awesome the mini burgers and dogs came out. They are made of candy, cookies and candy bars...I will post the how-to soon. The blanket is fondant and the grass was green icing with a simple tip place on the piping bag. And The Dude could have cared less once he had his hands in that cake...love him to the moon and back.

Happy Birthday Dude,
